The Voice of Fear

Too often I let my fear get the best of me. I let it steam-roll me with words like, “no one will like it”, “it’s no good”, “you’re wasting your time”, and “it won’t work”. It is a voice predicated on living the status quo of perceived safety. It is a voice that sounds reasonable and seems to have our best interest at heart.

But it doesn’t.

The voice of fear will never lead you to the place where you become fully you. It will never introduce you to your dreams and never encourage you to the one life you’ve been given.

The voice of fear masquerades as “reason” and “logic” but it isn’t any of those. The voice of fear is a narrow-minded-soul-crushing-dream-stealer, bent on keeping you in your place.

Listening to “reason” will keep you and your work on the sideline; depriving all of us from the unique perspective you have to offer.

So your task? The task of each artist, every one of us, is to bust through this loathsome voice and share what we’ve created. It’s in this space that our fear of failure and incompetence is brought to light, stripped of its power, and shown for what it truly is: empty and lifeless.

This world is better off when you can be fully you and give us only what you can give us. Don’t let any voice stand in the way.
